Mulkear EIP has secured funding from the EU Recovery Instrument Funding under the RDP 2014-2022 to undertake a project on the conservation of the Lesser Horseshoe Bat. This project is a collaboration with Vincent Wildlife Trust (VWT), based in Co. Galway. The VWT team of Dr Kate McAney and Ruth Hanniffy has more than 20 years experience working with bat conservation in Ireland.
With the conservation status of the Lesser Horseshoe Bat in Ireland recently downgraded from ‘Favourable’ to ‘inadequate’. Mulkear EIP was very keen to become involved with this conservation project in the Mulkear catchment.
We are currently recruiting farmers in the catchment to participate in the project. A dedicated page for the Lesser Horseshoe Bat project has been created, please check it out for more details on this exciting new project.
